Florence and Tuscan cooking class
Your day begins as your private English-speaking driver greets you directly dockside at the Port of Livorno in a premium luxury vehicle. Setting off through the rolling, cypress-lined hills of the Tuscan countryside, you will journey toward the outskirts of Florence to a magnificent, privately owned castle and historic wine estate for an immersive culinary experience.
Step inside the estate's kitchens for a private, hands-on Tuscan cooking masterclass guided by an expert local chef. Working with fresh, seasonal ingredients, you will learn time-honored culinary techniques as you prepare a traditional multi-course feast from scratch: starting with classic regional appetizers (antipasti), crafting fresh handmade pasta and authentic sauce from the ground up, preparing a hearty Tuscan main course, and finishing with a beloved Italian dessert such as authentic tiramisù. Following your cooking session, embark on a private tour of the castle's antique vaulted aging cellars to learn about traditional barrel fermentation and the estate's artisanal winemaking philosophy. Sit down to celebrate your culinary achievements, savoring the multi-course lunch you prepared, paired perfectly with the estate's fine Tuscan wines.
In the afternoon, your driver escorts you into the historic heart of Florence (Firenze). Dedicate your afternoon to taking in the city’s most celebrated civic and architectural landmarks: stand before the majestic Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Piazza del Duomo to admire Brunelleschi’s revolutionary terracotta dome and Giotto’s Bell Tower, stroll past the medieval goldsmith shops lining the iconic stone arches of the Ponte Vecchio, and pass by the imposing Renaissance facade of the Pitti Palace (Palazzo Pitti).
Your cultural exploration culminates with a visit to the world-renowned Accademia Gallery (Galleria dell'Accademia). Here, stand in awe before Michelangelo’s colossal, peerless masterpiece, the David, carved with sublime mastery from a single block of Carrara marble, alongside his evocative, unfinished Slaves (Prigioni). Following an enriching day pairing hands-on epicurean traditions with the height of Renaissance fine art, sit back and unwind on a smooth, punctual return drive to the Port of Livorno, arriving comfortably ahead of your cruise ship’s departure.
Important Shore Excursion Details & Masterclass Guidelines:
Private Cooking Masterclass, Wine Tour & Lunch: €120 per person (includes hands-on cooking instruction, multi-course lunch, estate cellar visit, and paired Tuscan wines; payable on-site). Please note that this private experience requires a minimum billing baseline of 6 participants (parties of fewer than 6 guests are warmly welcomed, with pricing calculated on the 6-person minimum).
Accademia Operational Schedule & Single-Museum Pace: Please note that the Accademia Gallery is closed on Mondays. Because the morning is dedicated to a relaxed, multi-course culinary class and cellar tour, time constraints allow for visiting only the Accademia Gallery (rather than multiple indoor museums) during your afternoon in Florence.
First Sunday of the Month Advisory: On the first Sunday of each month, Italian state museums (including the Accademia) offer free public admission. As a result, skip-the-line advance reservations cannot be booked, and significant queues and crowds should be anticipated.
Recommended Early Departure (7:30 AM – 8:00 AM): An early morning departure is strongly recommended to ensure punctual arrival for your morning cooking class and maximize your afternoon sightseeing in Florence.
Guaranteed On-Time Return to Port: Travel times between Florence and Livorno (~1 hour and 15–30 minutes) are carefully monitored to ensure you return dockside well in advance of your cruise ship’s all-aboard call.
